Shar and Laura are fantastic teachers, creating a welcoming environment for novice potters or for those with a bit of experience under their belts. Learning in a social environment with a small class of 6, you have a good mix of both group and one-on-one learning, which I've found super helpful when making with clay for the first time and not really knowing where to start.

From wheel throwing, to hand building, whatever you fancy making they'll help you create it - giving you the inspiration, time and patience needed to get up to speed. A lot of thought, love and care has gone into the entire studio, they are genuinely passionate about pottery, getting to know their students and creating an inclusive environment. I'd encourage anyone to give the Clay Academy a go - you won't look back!

We had such a great time on an introduction workshop last weekend. Shar and Laura made everyone instantly feel at home, they’ve created such a lovely little welcoming and creative space in the mill. Great teachers too, it was the perfect blend of letting us loose on the wheels but also stepping in and helping us out when we got stuck, or messed it up! The three hours flew by, it’s utterly absorbing. Absolutely recommend - I want to come back for the 10 week course already!

I attended the afternoon beginners class today. I absolutely loved it. You’re made to feel welcome from the moment you arrive. We did two types of wheel designs. My taller pots were a bit wobbly/wonky ? but we were made to feel like it’s all ok and fun. I’m definitely going to book another class. Thanks so much ladies. Can’t wait to see my glazed fired pot.

Absolutely loved taking part in two of the 10 week evening throwing courses so far. Shar & Laura are both lovely & great teachers. As a complete beginner I’ve learnt so much. The studio is a lovely environment to work in & I would definitely recommend anyone to give it a go!

Fun, laidback way to get hands on with the wheel. Laura and Shar were great teachers and hosts. We came away with two squiffy pots to be proud of! Can’t wait to see them fired and glazed!

Had an amazing day with my partner, we made about 5 pots between us and had great fun doing so! Sharman was a brilliant instructor and made the experience fun and accessible. Definitely recommended to family and friends to take a class!

Had an absolutley fantastic time at the Pottery container, booked this for my wife as she loves ceramics but has never been on the pottery wheels and i knew she would love this. Sharman and Laura are really friendly and made us feel welcome to their workshop. They taught us how to create shallow bowls then we moved onto taller vase like objects. As we have never done this before once you have had a go at it you can truely appreciate the pottery wheel craft. Highly reccomend we had a perfect day thankyou both so much

Absolutely loved our workshop! Sharman and Laura are so so friendly and encouraging. The container is a little piece of zen and we were so impressed with how much we learnt in 3 hours. Can't recommend it enough!
