Room was a nice size, bathroom was spacious, both were clean. |Location is good for Christchurch and the New Forest.|Door codes for front door and your own room is a good system, means no reception staff etc.|Issues were; noisy A road means Earplugs are necessary for all but the heaviest of sleepers.|Also an adjacent restaurant is the breakfast option, so not included and expensive for the portions received. |8/10 overall and would stay again.

Easy to get to and “location is good to explore New Forest, and further afield.|Road noise is terrrible from front facing room, and on arrival I noticed cheap earplugs on bedside cabinet - I should have read old reviews beforehand.|Nice call and email beforehand giving access code to room and front door which worked well|Ate in the restaurant, and it was extremely good, service was excellent, and reasonably priced. I also had coffee during the afternoon which was good in the nice bar/restaurant.|Grounds are nice for a walk.|The restaurant and grounds pull the overall scoring up to a 3 but the road noise is so bad I wouldn’t stay again.

We came for Sunday lunch as the sign outside said it was the best in town. Was quite disappointed, I had the beef brisket and it was ok but everything was luke warm and seemed to lack flavour. My Yorkshire was burnt and I swear the veg was from a frozen packet it was cold and had no taste. Was such a shame as we had heard great things. The things that made up for it was the great service and the deserts were really tasty. I had eton mess and it was delicious. They also catered for my son who has a dairy allergy. I’d like to come back to try the main menu as it’s so close to us and we love the area/building.

Extremely disappointed. Booked through lastminute.com - nothing in listing to state self check in and we should receive an email with room details and pass codes.
We did not receive an email so arrived to empty buildings wondering what to do. Eventually a bar man appeared who said we should have an email with details, several phone calls and some waiting later and we’re I’m finally in only to find a freezing very draughty room with no way of putting heating in apart from a cheap smelly fan heater we found in the wardrobe.

The bed is ‘fatigued’ to be polite with a very worn out mattress and I am not looking forward to sleeping in this tonight.

In all it’s all dressed up to look much better than it is and I would not recommend

Just got back from a stay at the Retreat and I must admit I am baffled by some of the reviews! We really enjoyed our stay!! To be clear, we didn't stay for any sort of wellness retreat, we simply wanted a room in a dog friendly hotel that was close to the new forest and the beach. A massive tick on all points!

Location is great, 10 minutes drive to the beach and very close to the new forest (maybe 15 minutes from Brockenhurst). Room was huge and well equipped. They were a little tired but maybe to be expected in a hotel that makes dogs so welcome.

There is a little bit of road noise but they provide ear plugs and even without them wasn't really noticeable.

The restaurant next door for breakfast was great and service was good too.

I see some reviews complaining there is no reception desk, but we found the self check in really easy. There were clearly marked signs with a number to call if you had any issues though.

One suggestion I would make to the owners is to advertise more that they are dog friendly, as everybody we met had a dog and was raving about the place. Maybe should be pitched as a dog hotel rather than a wellness retreat!

Overall would definitely recommend if you are looking for a break with your four legged friend!

Arrived at 9.25am, hoping to sample the breakfast in the restaurant, before booking in the main restaurant later in the week. Unfortunately except for one lady looking at us behind the bar, she looked towards us, at the await to be seated sign, but after a 10 minute wait, no one came to seat us. If this is what good service is, to say the least we were very disappointed. Not a good advert, suggest you give the restaurant a miss !

Such a peaceful spot and comfortable bed.
Rooms are well fitted out and a good price. Stayed over for business and had a cracking breakfast at the restaurant next door.
