What a fantastic hotel!
Everything about a Shepherd & Neame hotel equals attention to detail.
Would like to pay special attention to the two reception desk staff - possibly managers - both at check-in and check-out. Also, the lady who served us breakfast.
Stayed in several of these over the years and they all offer very high standards for the price.
The food is always excellent - both the evening meal and breakfast. I had the steak, my partner the swordfish.
However, we were disappointed when the bar closed at 10 when we were told it was available until 11.
Guests were checking in just after 10 who wouldn't have been able to get a drink if they wanted one!
That said, we look forward to our next stay in one of these establishments in Kent.

First, the positives. The staff were lovely, polite, and professional throughout our short stay. It is in a great location in the centre of Deal. We paid a premium (£180) to stay in a room with a balcony offering a fantastic sea view. The room we stayed in was called the Nelson.|Overall, the room was bright, airy, and clean. We can imagine it's lovely in the summer. But if, like us, you are looking for more than just a sea view, then you will be disappointed. We found the bar and restaurant soulless, with no atmosphere. The wooden table and chairs were tatty and uncomfortable, and the food was average. We appreciate that it is an old building and upkeep of such buildings can be challenging, but in our view, it needs some TLC and a re-think about how they can make the hotel interior more welcoming. It's often the little things that make the difference. A touch of paint here and there, cleaning the bird mess of the balconies and outside areas - See photos. It is also interesting to note there does not appear to be one response from Shepherd Neame to any of the reviews here. That suggests a total lack of respect for their clients. It is very sad.

We booked this hotel for our wedding night on 28.10.24.|Even though we are local, we have always had a nice experience eating in the restaurant, but always wanted to stay over. So we did.|I cannot fault the hotel room. It was everything we wanted. Clean, comfortable and spacious. When we checked in the lady on reception was lovely. When we went out and came back later that evening, a girl from the bar was aware we had married that day and brought 2 glasses of champagne to the room for us. The next morning we were served an amazing breakfast in our room which was delicious. |I cannot fault the place. In fact we plan to return next year for our wedding anniversary and stay again.

A great meal spoilt by a dog in the lounge next to where we were having our anniversary meal. The owner had obviously never trained it to be quiet when other dogs were around. As usual with too many dog owners she seemed to find it funny and assumed everyone thought the same. What with the mess in the streets and on our beach let’s ban dogs from certain places and reinstall the licence fee.

Went to try the new menu and we weren't disappointed! My starter of duck croquettes was delicious as were the anchovies. The steak and ale pie was excellent as was my parner's pasta. The Shepherd Neame ales on draught were an additional bonus.

Room was great can't fault it, please note you have to pay to park as council owned car park which is by the hour or a 24 hour pass, the app is a pain and the card reader doesn't work well. Staff are great and helpful but the food wasn't great tbh but the breakfast was really good.

We chose this hotel for its stunning location and chose one of the balcony rooms (Nelson) which are just gorgeous. A beautiful room with a large balcony and a fabulous view right onto the sea. We've marked it down because for £320 a night in late September, we find it badly needed an update. The carpet is very worn and stained, there was mould in the shower, some chipped paint and the one armchair quite worn and saggy. Comfortable bed though. We don't expect luxury in a three star hotel, but we do expect clean and fresh. It's still a nice experience but represents poor value at the price. Friendly and helpful staff and a very good breakfast. Owners - please give this lovely hotel some TLC!
