Well what an incredible experience.
I have just returned home from 3 days intensive training at Talland … with what feels like a new horse 🙏
A big thank you to Pammy for my flat lessons .
And huge thank you to Brian for the showjumping.
With Your unbelievable knowledge and expertise, and ability to explain .. yet keep things very simple… proved massively beneficial to me and my horse.
There is a very genuine desire to help people improve , providing a very warm welcome in a very relaxed down to earth environment.
I only wish I lived closer !

What an amazing place for any equestrian to be! We couldn’t recommend it more. In June, my 15 year old daughter was lucky enough to spend 4 incredible days here. Over the 4 days she had lessons with Pammy, Pippa, Charlie, Tom, Raffi and Britt, covering dressage, SJ and XC; some on our horse and 2 on Talland’s School Masters. What a fantastic experience it was. This place doesn’t just offer the highest quality lessons and horsemanship, but they do this within an incredible family atmosphere. Pammy and Pippa clearly knew and cared for all of the horses and people there, and this caring theme ran throughout the place. In between lessons we got chatting to a wide range of riders, visitors, instructors (including Pammy, Pippa and Hilary, who freely impart their knowledge) and people were encouraged to watch lessons from the sidelines, which was educational too. All of the staff team we met during our stay were friendly and supportive. Talland is in a beautiful part of the country and their facilities are fabulous and horses cared for and happy.
When Isabella nervously arrived on the first day, Emma (office manager,) and Claire (yard manager), both settled us in ensuring that our horse’s needs were fully met. To top it off, the catering was home cooked, delicious and offered a wide variety to choose from. We’re so thankful to the whole Talland Team for creating such an inviting environment making our experience so special. We can’t wait to go back! If you get the opportunity you should certainly go along and experience this amazing equestrian centre for yourself!

Probably the best place in the UK to learn dressage without having your own horse! The quality of instructors and horses is second to none (you can even have a ride on an ex-Grand Prix horse once you’ve reached a certain level in your riding!). I used to travel from London every weekend for a year to train with Pippa, and her coaching, along with getting the right feel from the schoolmasters, is now helping me produce a horse through the levels. I also occasionally trained with Hilary and Adam, and they were great as well. I still come every 1-2 months to ensure I don’t lose the right feel

This is a beautiful riding school with beautiful horses! We visited with friends for a lesson last week and my kids had a fab time. It's just a shame we don't live closer as they've already asked to go back. The owner seemed lovely as were most of the staff with our little group... especially the girl leading my sons horse pictured with him below. We'll be back next summer hopefully 🙂

I have been going to Talland for over five years now and couldn’t recommend it highly enough! Pippa has taught me since I started going and you couldn’t ask for a more knowledgable and understanding instructor. I go to Talland to learn how to ride the more advanced movements as I train my horse at home. The knowledge and experience I have gained from Pippa and the wonderful horses is invaluable. If anyone is thinking about doing this to help them at home, personally it has helped me enormously. Thank you to the team at Talland for all your help over the past years and I look forward to my next visit!

I had an my first lesson at Talland over the weekend after wanting to make the trip out from London for a while. Despite an admin error on my end, the team were really friendly and helpful in arranging the lesson despite my mistake! They took the time to understand what I wanted to achieve and what my experience was, in order to pair me with the right horse.
I rode Lottie who was fabulous and definitely a cut above other riding school horses, and different to my own which allowed me to work on my own riding. Hilary was a great instructor, picking up on how I rode quickly and providing me with good suggestions on exercises to do at home with my horse.
I will definitely be back for a schoolmaster lesson!

Absolutely fantastic riding school! I cannot recommend highly enough! We travelled from Plymouth to have a lesson with Pippa on a school master. Unfortunately traffic was not on our side so we missed our lesson slot. Talland was more than accommodating to ensure that we got our lesson with Pippa! Which was really lovely. The lesson with both Pippa and Hillary were fantastic, really made me feel good about my riding! I cannot recommend enough! Fantastic experience with amazing horses, and really knowledgeable instructors! Can’t wait to come back! X

Recently I had the pleasure of visiting the Talland School of Equitation for some BHS Stage 4 training, and I can't recommend it enough. From the moment I arrived, everyone was so friendly and welcoming, creating a genuine sense of family and community. There is something truly magical about Talland—during my visit, I saw Pammy, Brian, and their daughter Pippa all coaching within the same environment. It's rare to find a family-run equitation center where each member is so deeply involved, and it adds a special touch to the entire experience.

My sessions with Pippa were incredibly informative and a lot of fun. She has a wonderful way of building confidence, offering clear and concise feedback and takes time to show a genuine interest in your background and experience. What particularly stood out to me was her emphasis on the theory behind each exercise, explaining why we train both horse and rider in specific ways. This approach really deepened my understanding and made the session both educational and engaging.

I also had the opportunity to observe Pammy teaching, and it was evident that she builds strong relationships with her riders, showing genuine interest in them as individuals, not just as athletes. The wealth of knowledge she shares is truly impressive.

Overall, my time at Talland was not only educational but also a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The combination of expert instruction, a welcoming atmosphere, and a focus on each rider’s personal journey makes it a very special place to learn and develop as both a coach and rider.
