Went too see Tom Allen for a night out.
Great comedy, easy parking if you arrive early enough. Bit of a cue for the bar, but was very well managed so the wait was not too long.

Great venue, just big enough without being too big and for me (183cm tall) the stage is the perfect height to see what's going on without a sore neck in the morning! Lovely springy floor, seats if you get tired, great sound and I've seen a great selection of bands there over the years!

Very poor sound in the gallery for the first 40 minutes of the comedy night - couldn't hear much! No idea what the sound techs were doing.

Eventually fixed it and got better after an interval, but acoustics in the room aren't great in general so wouldn't particularly recommend as a venue, especially up in the gallery.

My girlfriend and I saw Jason Fox here, he was brilliant but the venue was poor.

The seats were uncomfortable and extremely cramped to the point that we both had backache after a couple of hours. It was very warm and the decor was dated to say the least.

There's plenty of parking (4 visitor car parks) but it's a bizarre set up. We drove around 2 of them and there were signs all over the place saying 'Permit parking only' and 'Pay & display not valid' yet there were pay and display machines directing us to an app to pay. As I don’t go to the university I don't have a permit (as most visitors won't) so in the end I parked and paid on the app but I'm half expecting a fine through the post.

Really the only positive was the staff who were plentiful and helpful, they are the only reason this isn't a 1 star review.

A great celebration for all those receiving their degrees, first calibrate ceremony since the pandemic started.

The venue itself is not too bad, although it is completely let down the sound system / engineer.

All bass and treble with nothing in between. The vocals were barely audible and the amount of times we suffered feedback loops was painful.

The only recommendation I'd give this venue is to avoid it and see a band elsewhere if you want to enjoy them.
