Walkitcornwall- Paul is so very generous with his local knowledge & time with nothing a problem prior to & during the walks. I joined the tour as a solo traveller & thoroughly enjoyed the company of the others walkers.
Each day we would be collected & taken to the beginning of another fabulous walk; climbs rewarded with exceptional views, great walking company & the bonus of having delicious lunches & snacks provided. Paul’s knowledge of each area, bird life, plant life & history is exceptional and he is passionate to pass on interesting information, making conversations flow easily amongst the group.
I absolutely loved the variety of terrain walking through woodlands, farmland, beaches, villages & coastal headlands, paths & even a trail on top of a hedge!
If you are considering a Walkitcornwall holiday, my advice: plan it, book it, walk it! A unique experience to be enjoyed & shared. Thank you Paul!

Walkitcornwall’s Dartmoor Guided walks are Unique & World Class

We walked with Walkitcornwall in Dartmoor in June 2024. Paul’s guidance revealed there is so much more to the Dartmoor experience than we had expected. Fair to say, that, after a week of world class comfortably strenuous walking with Paul, one emerges enriched and enlightened with a genuine understanding of so many aspects of Dartmoor’s culture, prehistory, history and ecology. We could never have equaled this had we spent a week walking in Dartmoor on our own without Paul’s guidance.

All facets of every walk and dining experience were well researched and meticulously planned. His small walking groups, maximum 8, really optimizes the experience. Paul is very generous with his time and is focused 24/7 on providing the best possible walking experience one can have.

Base village: For the week of walking, we were based at a very comfortable B&B, Duchy House, in Princetown, a very interesting village, which is in an optimal, central location within Dartmoor and permits short efficient driving times with Paul, to trail heads in all directions throughout the Dartmoor National Park.

The B&B: carefully chosen by Paul to optimize the walking experience, provides an extremely high standard of hospitality and the most comprehensive and high quality breakfast we have experienced, thanks to Richard’s expertise as a trained chef. Overall they are very generous hosts.

The walking: Walks provide scenic highlights on trails, very carefully chosen by Paul, that are not busy, and which typically incorporate, with brief stops, several very charming villages. These visits to villages, provided an unexpected insight into the culture of Dartmoor. So much more than a simple walk in the wild spaces.

Each day one had the satisfaction of an invigorating 6 - 9 mile walk. The walks, while not hurried, are comfortably strenuous; they are not strolls, so one does need to have a fair level of fitness.

A unique walking guide: Paul is a Scholar - athlete; currently completing a PhD in Cornish Studies which involves comprehensive research and evaluation of the walking paths of the Southwest - an expert both academically and in practical aspects of distance walking. Amazing insights about the history and ecology of the area are presented on each walk very efficiently and to the point. Very painless learning.

Food: All 3 meals (and morning and afternoon teas) are covered and included in the price of the walking tour. Amazing value for money. Suppers at different historic pubs each evening in quaint villages, that Paul knows well and all distinguished by providing diverse sophisticated menus, which one never would have expected in such small villages.
Lunch: Paul provides Delicious homemade sandwich based picnics for lunch each day; always in scenic locations and, in addition, afternoon tea!!

Transportation to Princetown: Paul met us at Plymouth Station for transfer to the B&B in the middle of Dartmoor. For us, traveling from abroad, the entire transfer from Paddington Station ~> Plymouth ~> Princetown was seamless

The Walking groups: This was our forth walking trip with Paul. Ordinarily, we are independent hikers. Walkitcornwall is the only group walking we do. Every walking tour that we have done with him, we found that Paul attracts fellow hikers who are uniformly respectful and easy to get along with. A very pleasant group walking experience.

We are very pleased that we did not walk the Dartmoor Path on our own. Walking the various Dartmoor paths, each with their own specific beauty, with Paul at Walkitcornwall provided a far more enriching, comfortable and comprehensive walking experience.

Paul knows and loves the places he walks. He has introduced me to Dartmoor and to many of the less visited parts of Cornwall. I highly recommend his company to anyone who wants to walk, learn about the amazing landscapes, chat, laugh and enjoy the outdoors.
