Played 18 today and was impressed. I had played here back when it was Rutland County and the new layout with the added lakes has definitely made the course more enjoyable. I thought the greens were in excellent condition for this time of year, especially compared to other courses in the area.

Only suggestion would be to consider adding more or more visible distance markers on course and on tee boxes, The GPS apps we typically use didn’t fully align with the course layout, so had to refer to the course map from the website. It might be helpful to include that layout on the scorecard for easier access during play.

Easy access to the driving range, and café, which is where you pay on the day. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.
The course itself was in great condition, with well cut fairways and greens. The greens weren't very true, due to recent spiking and fertilisation, but puttable. The layout of the course is a little confusing, better signage to the next tee would be a benefit. Also, don't think you're going to use your GPS distance device, by my Garmin's yardage, the par 3 first was 659yds! The "new" layout, a few hole length changes to fit the main clubhouse/hotel in place, hasn't been set up to provide new GPS distances yet. The price of a round on the Friday was £25 per person, absolute bargain! 11:08 tee time, with hardly anyone else out on the course, millionaire's golf....
If I remember correctly, there are 6 par 3's, and some risk and reward shorter par 4's (par 69) which made for a fun round.
In a nutshell, great value for money, good condition and well kept, with very pleasant staff. We all enjoyed the day and will definitely return in the near future.
PS, the greens in the middle of summer will definitely be a game changer, much firmer, quicker and with subtle breaks and gradients, they will be the course's "protector".

Incredible service as always by Jack and the team. Food is exceptional, it’s my perfect happy place when I feel like an early morning drive and i have somewhere nice at the end to stop for breakfast. Don’t waist your time and your money on this overpriced terrible course. The course should not of been open it was unplayable. It was a sunny warm day and the course was a swampy flooded mess. The sixth green was in awful state there was a random second half cut hole on the green along with massive gouges out of the green. It continues to go downhill with tee boxes on a slope that are horrendously muddy that are in a completely random places. Overall they have completely given up on the course and only care about the holes that are visible from the main complex. There are so many better courses around that are in far better condition actually worth spending £30+ a round.

Visited Woolfox for a round of golf with friends for my 40th, having previously visited the Woolfox cafe for a great breakfast. While the restaurant/cafe is lovely, with service to match - the golf experience just doesn't live up to expectations. There's a big mismatch between the golf course side VS the lifestyle side of Woolfox.
For £33 a round, the greens were in poor condition, with putts bobbling everywhere, and no range distances marked. The driving range also wasn’t great — worn mats with no tees and £5 for 20 balls. Wouldn't recommend or visit for golf again unless some serious work is put in on the greens.

A beautifully curated cafe. Great interior design, an eclectic menu for food adventurers and great outdoor space with lovely views. Excellent parking too. The food was exceptional!

I have been having regular lessons with Nick Garland at Woolfox for the last 18 months or so and can easily say he is the best pro I have ever worked with on my game. Nick is incredibly easy going and approachable making lessons enjoyable and a good laugh. Would highly recommend him if you are looking for a pro who is friendly, approachable and makes what can seem a very difficult game a simple one!

I really like this golf course and as I’m a high handicapper I’m not too worried about the greens etc. they have been doing a lot of work putting in lakes and they are going to change some of the holes soon. The old club house is under renovation but the driving range has been refurbished and there is a little bar and outside area there which is where all the golf activities are based. The staff are very helpful and Mark the Pro is really friendly too. I’m sure the course will continue to improve, I’m particularly hopeful once the changes to the course are complete they will sort out the tee boxes as some are quite uneven.
