This is Nell, looking for a squirrel, she is 18 months old described by someone on the beach as an emotional dog! She also has a very strong pray drive and is very fast! In other words a handful! i have taken her to Davey’s scent work classes and whilst being a sight hound she has loved the work, improving with each week. It has also improved her focus on me, calmed, steadied her and enormously helped our relationship. We will be back for more in the spring! Many thanks Davey

Belle our beauceron had a fantastic time at Axe Valley scent classes. Davey who ran the classes was extremely patient and knowledgable, his ideas and tips on how to encourage and support our learning and Belles was excellent. We will certainly be signing up for another class.

I strongly recommend Davey for dog training. He is friendly, easy going and our dog loves him! He goes above and beyond and even recommended and worked with a dog walker he found for us. We gave him quite a task with our spaniel x bassett (who is very excitable and stubborn!!) and will be booking some more sessions with him to fine tune her behaviour!

Well what can I say.
Davey has a lot of patience’s. He is dedicated and very approachable.
My dog Willow suffers from anxiety and she is scared of everything. She was able to have Davey near her and she sniffed all around him. This she could not of done before her training. And she was able to have the lovely Meg (another dog in our class) playing around her without barking with anxiety.
These classes were well worth the money. There are also emails from Davey with attachments for boostering your training at home

Thank you so very much Davey

Willow and Bernice

We contacted Davey at Axe Valley Dog training for advice and support in training our newly adopted rescue lurcher. He could be reactive towards other dogs when out on the lead making walks a stressful experience for us both. Davey helped us to learn and look for behavioural cues, gave us games to play to strengthen our bond and improve his trust which is helping keep his focus on us during walks rather than lunging after every four legged animal he sees! Every session has been followed up by emails with copies of the resources and helpful links to keep the training up while at home. Davey has been friendly and patient, with a no-pressure approach and prompt communication, we’re really grateful and can recommend him to anyone looking for help with their dog!

Great to speak to Davey at Axe Valley Dog Training on Friday evening. We described what we wanted and how Oscar is. We came away with lots of ideas and a different perspective. Davey, further followed those up with some training techniques, a video and bespoke training for Oscar.

Would definitely recommend.

We have a rescue dog that was frightened of people and reactive with other dogs as she had been shut away for the first three months of her life. She was also particularly frightened of women.
After chatting for some time with Davey at an event, he gave us confidence that he would be able to help us out with the three things we were most concerned about; recall, reactiveness with other dogs, and more confidence with strangers.
Each training session was structured but Davey adapted the sessions so each dog's individual needs were catered for, after the fourth class our dog seemed like she had suddenly "got it" or maybe it was us!
We will definitely recommend Axe Valley Dog Training, and are considering another course already.

I contacted Axe Valley Dog Training as was concerned that my dog was reacting to other dogs when out on walks. I also spoke to him about him barking and being in distress when I left my dog with my husband even if just to use the bathroom. Davey talked through options with me and gave me some very helpful suggestions. I then saw Davey for three sessions face to face. Davey is very knowledgable and personable and very encouraging. He answered all my questions of which there were many. He taught me what to look out for and how to anticipate issues. He was always very mindful of not over training my dog and giving him breaks. I always felt he had my dog’s well-being as the priority which was appreciated. At the beginning of the training my dog couldn’t walk past another dog without barking. Now we are using the clicker training method along with other strategies the change in my dog is amazing. Highly recommend Davey and our trips out with our dog are a pleasure now. Thank you so much Davey, you are amazing!
