I used to like JD but since they renovate and removed staff became dirty, everywhere toilets, mirrors, floors, a lot of broken equipments, torn mats, looks like no one is looking after.
Picts taken at 14pm….
A quite sad I will probably look another place to work out.

Answering JD feedback, would be good to spend more money on maintenance and housekeeping.. otherwise you will have this feeling working out in an old gym. I had been in others JD and today I can say the Bolton unit is abandoned.

I love this gym. The manager called Sam is lovely and always makes sure that the gym is clean and tidy. I’ve been training with Jordan he is a fantastic PT. He always changes the sessions to keep them enjoyable and has helped me lose 40kg.

"Misleading Offer and Poor Customer Service"

I signed up for a membership at JD Gyms Bolton after seeing their "FLASH SALE! 1ST MONTH £10" offer. The promotion clearly stated that the first month would be £10 with no joining fee, followed by a monthly payment of £24.99. However, when I signed up in person, the £10 offer wasn't available on the kiosk, and I was charged the full £24.99.

I raised the issue with a staff member, and she assured me that I would be refunded the difference. Despite following her instructions and paying the full amount, I never received the promised refund. When I followed up with the gym manager the next day, I was told that no refund would be issued, which directly contradicts what I was told initially.

This experience has left me very disappointed. The advertised offer was misleading, and I was given conflicting information by staff. I expected better transparency and customer service from a well-known gym brand. Be cautious if you're considering signing up during a promotion – it may not be honored as advertised.

As users can see Thier ignorant reply instead of solving issues they are making fun.

It's essentially a warehouse with a bunch of gym equipment and a couple of PTs wandering around. In a bubble, that's fine, I just need somewhere I can go and use some machines. However, numerous machines, especially cross-fit machines, do not work at all. Today, I tried to use 3 different cross-fit machines and they were all broken. First one had non-functioning difficulty, I usually use level 8, but this machine didn't increase the difficulty at all — even at level 10. The next machine would turn off instantly when you weren't peddling, meaning that it would be impossible to review the workout after I was done. The final machine had the same problem as number 2, but by that point I was so fed up that I didn't care. Most of the weight machines are missing their peg, so you have to swap between the machines.

For a gym that doesn't promise much, it still under delivers. For £300 a year, I would at least expect functioning equipment. Subpar, I only go there for convenience.

I would happily reconsider this review if the equipment were fixed. However, I wonder what the incentive would be for JD to fix anything, when what they have now is cheap to operate and churns profit.

Awful gym. I had a rolling 30 day contract at JD Bolton and decided I wanted to leave. I informed them via email on 19th October. I received a reply saying they will take a final payment on the 18th of November. This is 30 days later. This is disgusting and a scam. I will never use this gym chain again. Such a shame as I previously left a positive review for them.

The gym is well-equipped with a variety of machines and free weights, making it a great place for a solid workout. The facilities are clean and the staff is friendly. However, the biggest downside is how busy it gets most of the time. It can be frustrating to wait a long time just to use certain equipment, especially during peak hours. If you're looking for a quick and smooth workout, this might not be the best place unless you can go during off-peak times.

I've been going to this gym for almost two years now and I had to move gyms due to how bad this him had been getting.

1. This gym is overcrowded. No matter whether you go there at 11 am or 11 pm, you will wait for the equipment. Usually 2+ people wait for the same equipment so a 10-15 min wait time is normal there.
2. It's frequently populated by groups of children who take up one piece of equipment for 30 mins+.
3. Men's toilets are dirty, wet and they stink. A lot ot people urinate under the showers and you can smell the ammonia almost everywhere. There was a disabled toilet that was clean but it's now permanently locked.
4. The sauna is dirty, grim and it stinks. I've been to 10+ saunas in my life in few different countries and it was the worst one. Makes my stomach turn.
5. The equipment is frequently broken, and people who train there have little respect for staff and others time. No one puts their weights back (look at free weighs section around 5-6 PM and you will see lots of weights scattered around the place).

It's more like a public market than a gym (esp from 4 till 10 PM) but I understand that many will enjoy live, busy spots.

Hate to amend my review but no wet facilities not even access to accessible shower without any comms going out to members making it a waste of time to visit this branch . Shame . One of the best equipped and cleanest gyms. Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. This should be the blueprint for any other JD gym, bowled over .
