Avoid this place, if you send your child here, you are setting them up to fail - they do not provide adequate amount (3 in total) of GCSE's and none of the kids learn the correct curriculum. So much abuse goes on here , mental and psyhical . please i am begging yo do not go, the head teacher is reporting all the low rated reviews.

My daughter attends High Point Academy,
She is very happy and all her needs are met.
The staff are fantastic and I can contact them through the Dojo app which I think is fantastic.
If my daughter has any issues,I forward them onto the school and I get an instant response and a care plan is implicated.
From the head teacher down to the teaching assistants,I find this school has made my daughter more confident,out going,she talks about things,she helps me at home and is a more happy child now.
Well done everyone and keep up the excellent work.

My son attends this school, and has really enjoyed his time here. Staff are friendly, supportive and have the students best interests at heart. He is doing his GCSEs this year, and if they had a post 16 provision both he and I would be happy for him to stay until he was 18.

Absolutely amazing school , my son is in year 7 , he has come on so much since starting this school , all teachers are so lovely and caring , you can tell they really care about all of the children . They literally have everything here to help a child with autism do the best they possibly can with their education . I highly recommend high point academy .

The teachers and support staff are nothing short of wonderful, they've made a huge effort to get to know my child and it's paying off in dividends as she absolutely loves school now. All of the teachers are approachable, are passionate and really do go the extra mile. All of our childs teachers have been the same throughout her time here, she is keeping all the same teachers next year with the exception of a teaching assistant change. Her new TA has spent time getting to know the children ready for september.

They have excellent facilities, it's spotlessly clean and we love that they have quiet areas and specialist rooms like the lego room and the sensory room. They have a fully equipped science lab and food tech room, everything you would expect at a secondary school. They also have ample outdoor space which caters well for children including those with more physical disabilities.

The resident therapy dog, Farla, is a huge hit. My child absolutely loves spending time with her, playing with her and walking her.

The school use a fantastic app called Dojo which allows easy messaging to teachers and lets me know what my child is doing in real time. Staff are always quick to let me know of any problems and the ease of the app allows me to let them know of any issues that may arise over the weekend or in the evening.

We've attended lots of different things at the school - parents evenings, school productions, award presentations - and it's clear that ALL children are celebrated here. The staff and students were relaxed and happy, which is testament to how good this school is. My child has never seen anyone restrained here, they talk to the child and they can choose if they want to go into a quiet room or do an activity to help regulate themselves.

My child is achieving here and has lots of friends across all year groups. This is a far cry from mainstream where every day was a struggle. She's like a different child now, and i can not express enough gratitude to all the staff for that, she's happy, settled, achieving and is challenged.

Having our child placed here was the best thing that could have happened to us a family. We've seen a massive reduction in her anxiety and meltdowns.

The school also take the stress off us as parents too. She wont get her uniform on? No problem, send it in a bag and we'll deal with it. She's had a massive meltdown in school? No worries, we'll message you to let you know and we'll also keep her safe, find out why she's in meltdown and get her regulated and back into class. You've been struggling with school shoes because of laces? We have loads of kids here with the same issue, we'll take care of it. She wont have her photo taken with the other kids? No problem, that's her choice. She's struggling to verbalise her emotions? We can come up with a system that works for her and us, and we'll take her out for some time where she can draw and regulate herself.

I'm sure there are loads of examples where the school have gone above and beyond (in addition to the examples above). Every member of staff champions our child in her successes and more importantly, are stood right behind her, constantly finding new ways to better support her.

A massive thank you to all the staff - the headteacher, teachers, teaching assistants, support staff and even the receptionist who makes a concerted effort to get to know each of our children. Everything you are doing is making a massive difference 💙

Fantastic school, they are like a family there so kind and caring. I wouldn’t have got my child into anywhere else.
The school is not only there for the children but the carers and families too. Plenty of opportunities to go in and work with your child, lessons are specially set up so you can create something together.
My child has come on leaps and bounds since he has been there I’m so proud.

I'm going to be brutally honest my review, this school is in need of a lot of improvement. They are not adequately equipped to teach children with special needs, and they suffer from frequent staff shortages and high turnover. while i believe the staff have good intentions, it's not uncommon for places dealing with vulnerable individuals to experience some form of abuse/ improper treatment. The kids are not being taught the appropriate curriculum for their age and the schools educational resources are extremely lacking, especially in the science department as they do not have access to any lab equipment which for secondary schools is mandatory. I understand that managing a place like this can be challenging, (especially with how new this one is) but at this rate, its' likely to be shut down within the next few years.
