Somewhere that could be a treasure trove if you get lucky and find a special item or a bargain at the right time. It’s packed full, so ideal for having a rummage. Some stuff was overpriced but some stuff was a real bargain and they made a reasonable offer when purchasing a few bits. It could do with a clean which is why I didn’t give 5 stars and some stuff felt very old like it had sat there for quite some time. I imagine the best stuff gets snapped up quickly so you have to be there to get the good bargains! I recommend tying it in with a visit to Chagford. There’s a large parking area a short walk from the shop but if you struggle with walking you can park up close.

I don't normally leave goggle reviews, but I feel like this is needed. Before visiting proper job, I read all the reviews, good and bad. The place is definitely worth a visit, as it is unique and good for rummaging around, but you will not find many bargains. They clearly price stuff up from online prices, which would be fine if the stuff wasn't so worn. They're expensive compared to other charities and should remember that online pricing is shown to the whole world, not a local audience, in the middle of nowhere. I also read another review about being open to offers, which the owner replied to saying they do accept offer. I tested this and can say that they definitely don't like it and was told no, until I mentioned the online review.

Good variety of stuff here, well loved and good for the local community, could use bit of a clean up though as it seems to be a bit of a mess

Edit:
Following the advice of the manager, below, I have tried bartering on household items and found it met with resistance.

I still love this place but I am going there less often due to the increased prices. I feel that everything is priced about £1 higher than I'd be prepared to pay - especially in clothes. For example, some faded black yoga trousers were £4. I would have paid £3, but they're still on the rail weeks later. Same for some kitchen stuff I could have done with. Just too expensive for what it is.

I don't know why you're doing this, Proper Job but hope you're just trying to cover your costs rather than make profit. There's so much stuff in the world, I think it is best to price it to sell.

People donate stuff for free, so that others can make use of it, and this should surely include those who may not be able to afford new stuff. I'm sure this was part of the original stance of Proper Job. Nowadays, I feel that it doesn't do the service it used to in this regard and
I'm more inclined to take my unwanted items to a proper charity shop.

Love this place. Although clothes are getting more and more expensive considering they are all donated. I feel it will become unreasonably priced if it continues to be priced so high. Saying that, not everything is high priced and they have loads of bits for everyone. Paint, books, kids toys, you name it they've probably got it! Worth a visit

Visiting a friend in Chagford on Saturday who took me to this Aladdin's cave of all sorts. I was amazed at what they had here, real step back in time with some of the items. All laid out in easy to find sections , well worth a visit if you are looking for that something that is no longer available in your every day store. Well done to all ,brilliant Idea .
