I had my nicest two years of academic education here at York College. I will never forget some of the teachers and the friends I made.

The college environment was so nice and welcoming, great study space, social and group work spaces and comfortable seating. I love both big size rooms such as the psychology classrooms and small/ packed spaces in math rooms, they both group up the students’ attention and made studying more interesting. Never forget the lockers too, if how much snacks I used to keep in it.

Thank you York college!
Thank you the designers or York college and thanks to all the teachers and friends!

Well, I was unsure if my experience of open evening would be great after reading all reviews but I have to admit that my son was impressed and so was I till I approaches stand with adult courses and had a conversation with lovely lady at the table as i thought. She jumped away to speak with another man that approached the table without finishing the conversation with me. That exact move made me feel very unwanted. I hope there can be improvements made, as not everyone is brave and offten are unsure and nervous but they really want to make a big changes in life. You as the collage are the first ones in line to help, please don't push us away. Looking forward leaving excellent review in a year or so.

Went here today to enroll. I would not recommend. The staff I spoke to was rude and arrogant. Honestly horrible. The rules are ridiculous I was told you can't have days off no matter what the circumstances if yo do you'll be kicked out. You MUST have your hair in a bun if ANY peaces fall out your kicked off. If you come in, in anything other then uniform your kicked out +more. Like I'm sorry but it's ridiculous. When i was getting spoke tothey was interesting a girl because she was on a different course before but wanted to change courses. And made her cry because apparently she don't belong on the course. They was making kids cry. Honestly dont go here it's not worth it

This place is beyond belief. My daughter was told she had to choose between her job and part time job. Basically told her to quit her course. Spent 3 weeks trying to get hold of someone and we are still getting snotty messages about her attendance despite the fact they bullied her off the course. Totally inept and useless. Leeds is much much better and actually care about their students.

I wouldn't recommend this college at all. My daughter came to apply for this sixth form and I was told to tell her to fill out the application form and they'll review their application. This was by one of the admissions team she was given an interview date and came in and sat with a curriculum head called Judith. Prior she was not told any information at all she spoke to my daughter and mentioned the main thing was that the course and topics needed to match up. My daughter didn't know and asked for the WiFi which failed to connect and she told me daughter to send her an email with all the list of the topics. My daughter did exactly that and Judith promised she'd be in contact. Monday passed nothing, my daughter emailed on Tuesday nothing, Wednesday she emailed again and nothing, Thursday morning nothing and again Thursday afternoon the day before sixth form enrollment closes she lets us know she tried to contact the sixth form (which my daughter told her they wouldn't respond and she said that wasn't an issue) and that if her sixth form didn't get back to them or provide evidence bare in mind AS courses are not recorded on a system. She first lied to me and said it's something to do with funding when I called her out she then changed she needs to confirm details and now she's saying she needs evidence. I went in the admissions team had to apologise on her behalf Judith for giving the wrong information and LYING toh daughter. Please do not go to this college they're incompetent and a joke clearly from reading the reviews. She also had a collegue by the name Emma who told her and my daughter there was no issue with funding she gave me three different reasons and lied to me and her own admissions team didn't even know what I was talking about and she tried to blame the admissions team when admissions confirmed it's on her. Thankfully my daughter found another place but it gives you an insight to how much of a joke this sixth form is. Save yourself the time and go elsewhere

Do not waste your time studying at this college. If you are thinking of studying HE ,please do not waste your energy and money. The staff and college are incompetent and do not communicate.
They are dishonest.
I would recommend commuting to any other college/university.

I’ve previously felt hesitant to leave a review of my time at York College, probably because the insidious nature of bullying leaves you so isolated and questioning of yourself, it's hard to feel valid or worthy enough to think anyone would care. However, reading the latest two reviews has pushed me to speak openly about my own experience because I do care and I would hate for anyone else to experience anything close to what I went through.
Stepping into York College, it didn’t take me long to realise what a deeply unpleasant and dysfunctional environment it was. As you can imagine, it didn’t go down well when I began to question the way certain tutors treated their students and other members of staff. My desire to challenge some of the very troubling behaviour on my particular course resulted in three years of mistreatment and bullying.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that my time at York College was truly harrowing and I was robbed of so many opportunities. The behaviour of certain tutors on my course was extreme, at times out of control, inappropriate, dishonest and a clear abuse of power. My coursework was damaged, I was shouted at, repeatedly intimidated, and eventually alienated.
When I confided in one tutor who I trusted, I was met with the statement ‘honestly, it’s not personal, it’s historical’. Until it is acknowledged that historical bullying is not acceptable and is indeed extremely personal when you are on the receiving end of it – and, I believe, one of the main reasons my course has such a low retention rate – it’s hard to imagine anything changing. Some of the tutors I experienced at York College would benefit from remembering what an amazing privilege it is to work in what should be a creative and enriching environment filled with opportunities to nurture and encourage other human beings to fulfil their potential. I guess these particular people represent a wider issue that is certainly not person centred, which in turn makes me sad for the people that work there that do actually want to make a difference.
I was treated in such a damaging, disrespectful and derogatory way that I do not hesitate in saying: Do not go here if you are a deeply insightful, intuitive and sensitive creative, because you will be stymied every step of the way.

DO NOT ENROL HERE! The level 3 applied science extended diploma was a waste of 2 years I’d want back. The tutoring was haphazardly organised, and above all, the fellow students there were utter *! Pardon my French. No one ever approached me and got to know me. The most conversation I got at lunch was “is this seat taken?” Not to mention the no smoking policy is a joke to this college as I see students smoking right in front of the no smoking signs, and no disciplinary action was ever taken because the headmaster was spineless. The students were also subtly hostile, as apparently asking a woman out is a cause for safeguarding’s concern, drilling into my head that asking someone out is unacceptable on principle. I ended up depressed and in constant need of counselling to bear through this.

I’m irreversibly traumatised by my time with this college, and it threw me off ever considering going to university. If you’re looking for reliable and friendly education, look elsewhere for your own sake. (2016-2018)
