I did a one week boat fitting course at NBSC, the course exceed my expectations - it was incredibly informative, comprehensive and handy. I can not recommend this course highly enough to anyone considering doing any kind of DIY job on their boat, Steve is also an absolute pleasure to work with and he has an incredible amount of experience he is very eager to share. It is very clear these courses are created with a lot of care and consideration and the price is an absolute steal for what you're getting in return.

Very informative and useful course with lots of practical application. Tuition on boat handling and use of locks all clearly explained. Good course for newcomers to narrow boating and for those wishing to build confidence.

I've just completed the 2 day diesel engine maintenance course with NBSC. Steve was a great guide and I went from not being able to name any parts of my engine or understand the RCR maintenance book to having done a furl filter change, tightened an alternator belt and packed a stern gland. The materials especially the second day were super relevant and I'm sure I'll recoup my money quickly by servicing my own engine

Would have loved to have tried an oil change as part of the course and understanding the contents of the bsc would have been a useful addition also to ready our boat for the next inspection

The "trimmings" (loo/lunch etc) were functional but don't expect too much and you'll be fine

I've enjoyed two courses already at NBSC, the Helmsman's Course and (just recently) the Engine & Boat Maintenance Course. Both courses were absolutely fantastic and I've gained so much from both of them that I can honestly say they are well worth the money, and so much more. The experience and wealth of knowledge that the instructors have is invaluable. I can heartily recommend these folks. I've already booked myself on the next course (Boat Electrical Systems) and am looking forward to it immensely.

I recently renewed my first aid certificate with NBSC. The instructor, Nick, was both engaging and patient, promoting learning while having fun. The classroom was very well equipped for all courses run by NBSC and, having met some of the other instructors, I'm quite sure that all courses will be delivered to equally high standards. Catering was excellent. Highly recommended.

Just completed the two day "Diesel Engine and Boat Maintenance" course at NSBC. I would 100% recommend this to anyone wishing to increase their understanding of diesel engine installations in narrowboats or anyone wishing to learn how to competently service their own engine. Steve Dennison, the course tutor, has a wealth of skills and knowledge in this area and has the ability to enthusiastically deliver the course in a manner and at a pace that all in the group are happy with. Thoroughly recommended!
