The gym is ok in terms of equipment with friendly and helpful staff and personal trainers. It was very busy early in the morning, and the space is limited. Also a few more machines could be welcome.
I like the fact that it has a sauna, that was the main reason to visit this gym. However, I found the changing room and showers a bit dirty (and smelly), old and tatty with water tempersture flactuating... not great and unsure if I'll be making this my main gym. Possibly the best option is to get a multi gym pass, use the one in Chesham or Amersha, and come here mainly to use the sauna.

Just joined the gym today after a long absence due to injuries I was told I’d have to pay the joining fee today of £10 plus the monthly fee which was fine. I was then told in July I’d have to make a double payment which would cover the month of July and the cancellation month. I don’t see why I have to pay a cancellation month for example if I decide to cancel my membership on the 1st of December then I do not want to use the gym in December so having a cancellation month as far as I’m concerned is a nonsense. If and when I decide to cancel something this means I no longer want to use the facility , I do not need an extra month to decide if I want to use the facility I have decided and I’ve cancelled and will not be using it again so having a months cancellation fee in advance is totally unacceptable.

Today while i was taking a shower i notice( besides a weird smell before entering ) some poop on the floor. I think the prices can go lower now.
Update: been next day to the gym, poop still there. No cleaning , so everyone is not active i guess…

This place is pretty alright, the gym is generally good and its a good place to go work out. I personally don't use any other of the facilities but the gym provides everything needed. Yet, the membership is quite a high price.

Save your money.

Berkhamsted centre is simply disgusting. I've never seen a cleaner cleaning anywhere in the building. Toilets are a disgrace. The swimming pool is dirty and basically no natural light in either the gym or pool, making it feel like a dungeon.

The gym is way too small tor the amount of people they let in There isn't enough facilities for weight training, they need to introduce a cap on the memberships because you are lucky to get a chance to use anything between 5-9pm. The gym itself shuts 45 minutes before the centre closes which is at 21:15, absurdly early. If you work full time this makes it very difficult to actually find a time to go to do a full workout.

The staff are really nice and welcoming. It's a shame the centre itself is an absolute cesspit of dirt and crammed overcapacity.

All this for circa £50 per month. Absolute joke

Classes were excellent.
Not sure why the membership team exist as they seemed unable to help me with my membership.
