I studied Level 1 & 2 courses with Spokes People, Darren and Lee. There’s an ncredibly well equipped workshop and a friendly learning environment and all the practical bikes and setups needed. Really the best place to study cycle mechanics, with true experts in the profession. Will continue into Level 3 with these guys.

I did Level 1 and Level 2 over a period of 2 weeks when Lee and Darren had taken over from the previous owner (before changing the name to Spokes People). I was changing from a career in engineering (both hands on and theoretical) to start working in the bike trade as a mechanic. The work area, knowledge, tools, facilities and paperwork provided was all top notch. I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 weeks. They could answer all my questions and truly understand bikes, have great knowledge of the history, engineering principles and how to run a bike shop that is set up to survive the changing demands of bikes. Both Lee and Darren share their knowledge and skillset openly and with enthusiasm. Their ability to teach a room full of students with differing levels of experience at the same time is testament to their teaching ability. Highly recommend.

I attended a "Home Mechanic" weekend course with Lee and it was absolutely brilliant.

The course covers all the essentials from gears to brakes to wheels and so much more. It's a great mix of hands-on and demos and the setup is first class. The workshop itself is incredibly well laid out, you can tell there's been a lot of thought put into it. Facilities are great, with all the essentials for tea breaks, lunch etc.

It's the quality of teaching though that really stands out. Lee is such a knowledgeable professional who deserves great respect for his experience and background and who is happy to pass it on, to help you learn "the right way". A true pro on his trade, I learned so much from Lee that far surpassed my expectations.

They offer a wide range of courses covering all topics and i won't hesitate to use the guys again in the future.

I attended the Home Mechanic course at the weekend (Sat/Sun 16/17 April) and it was superb. Darren as the instructor was very knowledgeable and imparted this and his experience in a style which was enjoyable and relaxed. Learnt a great deal and hope to put this into practice over the coming days/ months.
